Air Polishing.

Air polishing can be used by the hygienist  as part of a dental prophylaxis treatment to remove stains and some surface discolouration from the teeth. It uses a pressurised stream of calcium sodium phosphosilicate particles (Sylc).

When exposed to water it physically adheres to exposed dentine occluding tubules to reduce hypersensitivity. This is in addition to :

Removing extrinsic stains, e.g. coffee, tea and tobacco. prophylaxis of orthodontic patients. pre and post whitening treatments.

Orthodontic Treatment (braces).

Previously mainly associated with children, it is now becoming more widely associated with adults. If your teeth are crossed over or if there are gaps between them, ask your dentist at Bridge Dental (your local Marlow Cosmetic Dentist) if you could benefit from orthodontic alignment.

Dr Angela Emery uses the Inman Aligner Technique to correct minor uneven incisors  i.e. front teeth; this often only takes a few months.  Learn more at www.inmanaligner.com.

Implants

Dental Implants can often be  the best solution in adults for replacing missing teeth or teeth that have been extracted (see Implants).

Cosmetic Contouring.

Tooth recontouring or teeth reshaping is one of few instant treatments now available in cosmetic dentistry. It involves subtle changes to the teeth, usually without the need for anaesthetic. Adding or removing a few millimetres can sometimes transform a smile.

The rounded corners of front teeth or “incisal angles” become less prominent with age as the incisal edge  wears down and the tooth becomes square in shape. Sometimes reshaping these angles can give the tooth a more youthful appearance.

Cosmetic Dentures.

Dentures have moved on a lot. Stronger acrylics and flexible acrylics are now available as well as high quality teeth for a very natural look.

If you have full dentures you could benefit from placing two implants in the lower jaw to hold the denture firmly in place helping it to be more comfortable and work more efficiently.
